Telford is a "new town" built in the 60's in rural Shropshire.
Formerly the Wrekin District of Shropshire, the Borough of Telford & Wrekin comprises the town of Telford and its much smaller neighbour, Newport, all surrounded by beautiful countryside and small towns and villages as well as the Ironbridge Gorge UN World Heritage Site.
The Borough is split into two parliamentary constituencies - Telford and The Wrekin, with Labour and Conservative MPs respectively. There is one UKIP councillor in the Borough, Councillor Jill Seymour.
